One of my students, Tey Song Yuan (Robert), has built a visualisation tool for blog postings. It could just as easily be used for repository entries. The widget uses the posting time/date and the Categories to create a dynamic display of the spread and focus of research topics.
Slider bars (at the bottom) allow you see what has occurred within a particular time frame. These bars animate when you open the widget to show you the development of the space over time. Individual posts have an audio link to their respective categories and to the posts themselves.
The two examples below show this widget applied to the research blog of another of my students working with Antarctic data:

Ik heb met Pablo tijdens ELPUB gekeken of we ook andere relatie-vocabulaires aan kunnen toevoegen, zoals in het tender project ESCAPE wordt gebruik. En dat kan! In het lijstje in de video komt dan te staan dingen als, FundedBy, ProjectOf, etc... Ik ben wild enthousiast natuurlijk! De Zenity repository slikt de Word documenten in en maakt er daar resource maps van. - https://www.researchgate.net/
Het is een online dienst waar literatuurstudie centraal staat. Een snelle scan op zoeken naar personen met een instellingsnaam als uitgangspunt leert dat van de UvA en universiteit Wagingen 10 resp. 13 personen hiervan gebruik maken (wellicht meer als er andere spellingsvormen worden gebruikt). Je moet zelf je abstracts van je artikelen uploaden, geinteresseerde lezers kunnen het volledige artikelen dan lezen bij de bron (bijv.
pubmed). Je kunt zelf opmerkingen plaatsen in een tekstveld, en deze zijn dan volgens mij ook meteen publiek beschikbaar. Je kunt lid worden van groepen, of zelf groepen creeeren. Groepen worden beschreven door hun naam, maar er worden ook een of meer categorieen aan gekoppeld (voorgedefinieerd) en zelf kun je er keywords aan toevoegen. Al met al een aardige online samenwerkingsdienst, met een heel specifiek doel. Een beetje vergelijkbaar met 2collab (maar gek genoeg is de laaste minder specifiek op literatuur gericht) Ik twijfel echter of het nuttig is voor onze doelgroep, vanwege het kleine aantal gebruikers. Wel kunnen we leren van de wijze waarop het werkt en wat voor services het biedt.
Zowel 2collab als Researchgate bieden eigenlijk een heel magere (geen) zoektool voor zoeken buiten de eigen collaboratory.
